      1. By Manufacturing Process
Wave springs are made by either coiling or stamping.

      • Coiling: Wire or strip is coiled and heat-treated. It offers clean edges and design flexibility, ideal for small-batch, high-precision applications (e.g. aerospace, medical devices).

      • Stamping: Flat wire or sheet is stamped into shape, then formed into rings. It is cost-effective and suited for large-volume production (e.g. automotive, valves).

      2. By Structure

      • Multi-Turn Types

      • Series Type (Opposed-Wound): Single strip wound in sequence, available in flat or closed ends. Offers uniform load and compact size.

      • Nested Type (Parallel-Wound): Layers wound concentrically for higher load capacity without stacking.

    • Single-Turn Types (Wave Washers)

      • Gap Type: C-shaped, flexible under compression, good for preload and damping.

      • Overlap Type: Ends overlap to prevent over-compression; stronger and more durable.

      • Closed Type: O-shaped with high load and short travel; made by stamping and forming.

      3. By Application

      • Bearings: Provide preload, reduce noise, and extend service life.

      • Electronics: Used as battery contacts or connectors with good elasticity and conductivity.

      • Seals: Maintain sealing force and prevent leakage in pumps and compressors.

      • Automotive: Found in suspensions, transmissions, and engines for cushioning and stability.
